The Nighttime Novelist...accomplishes more in about 240 pages than a dozen other "how to write" or "craft your novel" books have ever done.

Suite 101's Review of The Nighttime Novelist

Author Suzanne Pitner has written a wonderful, quite generous review of The Nighttime Novelist for the respected writers' resource Suite 101.

Among the praise:
Joseph Bates is a published author and a professor of creative writing at Miami University in Ohio. He holds a Ph.D. in comparative literature and fiction writing from the University of Cincinnati. With such impressive credentials, one might expect a stuffy tome of advice for writers, but instead, Dr. Bates comes across to the reader with a friendly, engaging, and at times, humorous voice.
Ms. Pitner also has kind words for the exercises in the book and admits that "while reading...I often found myself drawn to my own keyboard to try out these assignments immediately," which I take as the highest compliment.
