Just a reminder that the postmark deadline for the Miami University Press Novella Contest is October 1st. Which, if you can believe it, is next week.
The press does a great job with the winners, publishing beautiful standalone editions of the work. I judged the 2008 prize and edited the winning entry, Lee Upton's wonderful The Guide to the Flying Island, available for purchase here. The 2009 contest actually saw two winners, each receiving full print runs: David Chambers' The Old Whitaker Place and John Cotter's Under the Small Lights.
