The Nighttime Novelist...accomplishes more in about 240 pages than a dozen other "how to write" or "craft your novel" books have ever done.

Meta Me (Update): Accidental Social Marketing Genius

As luck would have it, GalleyCat has an interesting piece today--read it here--that goes along with my post on social media publicity and associated weirdness. It's about Gregory Levey, who's written a book on his time as a speechwriter for the Israeli Prime Minister's office entitled Shut Up, I'm Talking. As authors are wont to do, Levey created a Facebook fan page for the book with the exact same name.

That page now has over 700,000 fans who like the page based on the title--who like, in other words, the idea of telling people to Shut Up, I'm Talking--not on the fact there's a book attached to it.

The moral of the story? I should've titled my book Finding Twenty Dollars in Your Coat Pocket.

  1. Haha! That's great.

Also, 700,000 people are very rude.
